We are a dynamic husband-and-wife duo, fuelled by our love and passion for all things Mexican, including its rich traditions. Our joy lies in sharing this passion through food with people.

Born and raised in the vibrant city of Puebla, Mexico, Maribel developed a deep love for the art of tamale-making from a young age. Her culinary adventure traces its roots back to the bustling home kitchen, where she spent countless hours assisting her mother and grandmother, as well as in their beloved tamales shop. With Mexican cuisine recognized as a UNESCO cultural heritage, she endeavours to share the rich tapestry of Mexico with the world—its people, culture, art, and gastronomy. Beyond the kitchen, her interests encompass a diverse range of disciplines including writing, dancing, traveling, interior design, marketing, branding, and storytelling. It was this very wide-ranging set of passions that led her to work with some of the world’s most prominent figures in various fields and industries, such as international best-selling authors, restaurants, embassies, chambers of commerce, museums, schools and event planners.

His journey began with a life-changing trip to Mexico where he had his first taste of authentic tamales! Now, with Tamales Mexicanos, he's bringing the vibrant flavors of Mexico to Singapore, one tamal at a time. From traditional recipes to daring new flavours, he's on a mission to challenge taste buds and create unforgettable dining experiences. But hold on, there's more to this story! Before his culinary adventures, he mastered sales in the fintech world, dabbled in cloud solutions for voice trading and prop trading, and even had a few rounds on the rugby field and a stint in the Singapore Police Force. Talk about a diverse resume! So, whether you're craving a delicious tamale fix or itching to discuss the latest fintech trends over a cup of joe, he's your go-to guy!

What Makes Tamales Mexicanos different?

Tamales Mexicanos is the first ever restaurant to specialize in tamales in the whole of Asia.

Despite tamales being a beloved staple in Mexico and Latin America, they remain barely known in Asia.

When people discovered the Mexican background of our founder, they often expressed their love for burritos, a dish she had never actually eaten in Mexico. This realization prompted her to take action.
